Northbridge cooler

OK so since the DS3's northbridge cooler is, well, CRAP.. I was thinking of ordering a new one along with my Tuniq Tower

The one I was looking at is the Zalman flower cooler

Just want to know if it's worth it, and is there any better chipset coolers from that website in that sort of price range. Has to be from there really to save on shipping and such.

Probably ordering on Wednesday night, before the Tuniq's deal ends.

Hmm well I've heard good things about the Zalman heatsink - it's apparently very light and better than most other passive coolers. I wouldn't really like another fan in my PC.. the graphics and 2 crappy 80mm fans i have already drown out everything else in my room..

What kind of case airflow do you have? The Zalmans need pretty good airflow to perfrom well, otherwise they really don't do much better than stock, especialy if your stock cooler was active.

Well I have an 80mm fan pointed directly at the stock NB cooler which doesn't give fantastic airflow but it does the job. I just want more security because if I'm going to push more volts through the NB, I don't want it frying on me.

This old case can only house like 2 80mm fans.. but I should be getting an Antec Nine Hundred when I get my debit card and £80.. lol

Ooh 900 posts. Woo!

You should be fine, then.

I just ask because I had a friend who bought a bunch of passive heatsinks, and then came complaining to me when his temps went up. I open the case, and find only a 92mm exhaust...

Well when I get my new case I'm gonna get some silent 120mm fans for some sweet case airflow. Then hopefully my graphics card won't have to fire up to 100% so often, and hopefully the Tuniq is quieter than the stock cooler, lol.

What about This one?

I could get a fan on it too if I wanted.

That is a great cooler but also very large. A Evercool VR-CE(I think that is the model someone correct me) is a great active cooler. A lot of use DFI guys get it immediately. It actually had so much success DFI added it in there later models. If Speedfan can control your 3 pin fans it will control the noise on this one. At full tilt that baby can get loud at almost 6000rpm's.
