Need help with an upgrade

Thread Starter
Next few days I will make a upgrade, I will change my "fried" I7 920 socket 1366 for one socket 1150.

The new CPU is i5 4670K and I'll buy a Z87 board but I have some doubts in this choice, the two boards I have been seeing are:

MSI Z87-G45
Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H

In my current pc I have 5 monitors and 3 GPU's:

GPU 1 - Evga GTX560 Ti SC
GPU 2 and 3 - MSI HD5450

I do not use Crossfire or SLI, I have 3 graphics cards to be able to connect 5 monitors. All Z87 boards have 3 inputs for monitors, 1xvga, 1xdvi and 1xhdmi,

1 - The Z87 boards work with three monitors simultaneously connected to the onboard graphic?

2 - The onboard graphic works simultaneously with the PCI graphic card?... wanted to connect two or three monitors to the onboard graphic and two monitors on the PCI graphic, is possible?

3 - All Z87 boards support it or depends on the model?

4 - What is the motherboard that you guys recommend?... up to 160€.

onboard and pcie should work no issue but if it didn't
use Virtu mvp and check if mobo support it

the MSI Z87-G45 have plenty for its price really lot of gaming features I find it best value mobo, and support sli/crossfire biggrin.gif

but I think will need to change gpu's if you run max settings at 1080p lot of the latest games wont be smooth with your current gpu's

I'm not a gamer, I play about 50 hours per year, 1920x1200, so I do not need a new GPU, I'll probably change the gpu in one year.

I have a few more questions on the motherboard, as I have a good WC kit so will overclock the i5 4670K... I've been reading some reviews of motherboards and it seems that some do 300FSB and some only do 100FSB... is it true?

I read that Asus Z87 Plus makes 300FSB but I have also seen prints of CPU-Z with the 4670K 100FSB X 48 = 4800MHz... both options are possible? 300FSB x 16 = 4800MHz or 100FSB x 48 = 4800MHz

I have not been following the latest developments in computer so do not know anything about this "new" socket 1150.

In Portugal I can get the MSI Z87-G45 for 138€ and the Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H for 156€... 18 euros more expensive compensate?

if not gaming then forget gaming motherboard why pay extra for something you don't want biggrin.gif

for overclocking it is all about power design and delivery but hasewell did take some of the fun part away by putting in the power controller in the Cpu etc..

am not sure about both options but I think you can reach it, for me I am still at 4.6Ghz with my 3770k didn't try to increase
