oh, i forgot to mention, i would like the budget to be sub $100, but with video cards, i don't mind breaking that a little. this entire build i am way under budget so i have room to give if needed.

iirc the 560TI does have three video outs but the one DVI and mini HDMI are "shared" so it can only run two screens. if you are running three screens, you're better off with an AMD solution in the budget you have.

edit:
i know a few folks that run workstations with a 7850 and love it . . just saying.

w/o a third party heat sink those temps can get up there pretty fast. and three screens can use a lot if really hard core multi tasking - seroiusly have a video going in one and web browsing with several tabs in another with some excel speadsheets and outlook in the third, you would be surprised what a load that needs.

and the philosophy of " better to have too much and not need it then not enough when you have to have it." wink.gif

its his rig - if he feels the need, i am not going to question him since it seems reasonable.

there won't be any video watching, really just having 3 screens of 10 different tabs. basically this is being used in a real estate office that does appraisals. it will be running a program called alamode, and from what i understand, it's a beast of a program. not so much what it is, but what you have to do to make a "report." the person using the machine i am building has the harder task of doing about 10 different tasks at once. for one the program will be running twice, then your normal email, stuff like that, then there are several internet based pages they are trying to load and pull data from. i know, it's over kill, but that was the goal because i don't want to have to build another one for 5-7 years. so far, that has been working.

here is the 560TI for $90
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127578&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=6146846&SID=1c8x5ocxjzgz5

so it comes down to the 7790 for $80, 7850 for $120, or that 560TI for $90. i am also leaning toward ATI cards for the know factor that i can run at least 3 screens. (side note, since i have been trying to do research on these cards, i have seen several 5-6 screen set ups, man, those look real nice!)

so i guess this is the "best deal" at $109. i know it has that dang MIR, but it's worth a try if i can get it. if anyone has a better suggestion please let me know. i want to go ahead and buy this dang thing and get it over with.

MSI R7850 Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127663

for the money i would think this would be a good choice....
PowerColor AX7790 1GBD5-DHV2/OC
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131524

Anand Tech says the numbers are close, but i have no idea what that actually means. to me it's $80 vs. $109.
i also have zero idea if Powercolor is a good card and if i shouldn't just spend the money and have my GPU and MB be a MSI match.

the power color will suffice but i wonder about the noise of that ref cooler. i took a look at A La Mode and it doesn't look all that demanding.

you can look at it as; you can get the 7790 and pretty much be ok and have it equal to a prebuilt or get the 7850 which will be quieter and have enough headroom to blow the socks off anything for awhile.

i don't want to make the choice for you, just call it the way i see it.
but i think you can tell how i am phrasing it as to what i would do . . redface.gif

yeah, i catch your drift. not sure where i posted about the alamode program, but you are right, spec wise, it's nothing more than "office." i don't need a GPU for the alamode per-say, i just need a gpu for triple monitors and something better than intel HD4600 graphics. i am hoping that the gpu will last the full 7 years of this purposed rig. that's why i went with a gpu because i was lead to believe the built in graphics after a few years might not have all the drivers it needs and not be able to preform as well as a separate gpu. i am just going to go ahead and order the 7850 and not worry about it.
thanks for the help!
