the classified is built for extreme over the top overclocking

the formula is built for cheap plastic loving l33T gamers.

Both boards have all the features I need. Don't care if they were built for different purposes, I always research the chipsets to find out if one works better than the other and then I look at the selection of red/black themed motherboards from reputable manufacturers to choose one. Almost always winds up being an EVGA or Asus

I love how EVGA have the 24 pin rotated 90 degrees, It just looks so much better than how it is normally when everything's wired up.
If the USB3 connector was also rotated and put on the edge of the PCB, I'd buy the board no matter how much the cost.

You don't have any screenshots? Surely you would of had something for when you sold it. A chip like that could fetch a decent profit if you had proof.

The USB3 20pin connector is at 90 degree too wink.gif

I'm sure the Classified is going to be a nice board. If one was an accomplished overclocker like yourself it's probably going to be a great board. Given the choice however, I'd stick with what I have; gimmicks included. You may not agree with how the board looks or some of the features Asus added but the current Formula is a decent board that fits the bill for me. I've had EVGA in the past and just didn't care for them. Back then it was just one BIOS issue after another and at the end of the day it felt like they had aimed a little too high. Every once and again I'd have an Asus board give me some grief but those occasions were short lived. Other than that, they just worked.

So there we go. I think we can agree to disagree?

Insulting someone just because their opinions don't match with yours is pretty lame dude,

I think you are jumping in to conclusion a little fast here. From what i've read he didn't insult you. He just expressed the fact that comparing the Z87 Classy and the M6F is like comparing apples and oranges. On the side he also expressed the fact that he doesn't enjoy the "catchy" things that Asus put on the board. But he never insulted anybody.

Totally agree with you on the 24 pin. Slick!

Then I'm sold.
Anyone know where I can find EVGA motherboards in Australia?

not insulting anyone over a motherboard lol. Ive had my fair share of bios issues with asus and evga, actually mostly asus since i mainly use their boards. All im saying is these two boards serve veryyyyyy different purposes and shouldnt even be remotely compared. The #1 problem i have with the formula is its basically a maximus vi hero with supremefx and a plastic cover on it and a useless aluminum waterblock but a $120 price jack. Sure some people might find it kind of neat looking, but im more about overclocking functionality over looks. Fortunately for me the rampage IV black beats everything in both categories tongue.gif

Well I'll need a new case for it, and I'll need to spend another $270 on the CPU, but I did need an upgrade anyway.

The Formula also adds wireless ac but I hear what you're saying. I too wish they would have left the aluminum water block off the board. It seems the armor (plastic cover) is a love it or hate it for people. I think it''s pretty nifty myself. I will absolutely admit however that the Z87 Classified wins in the looks department. Honestly, it's on of the best-looking boards I've seen in a while.

I am interested in seeing how it does once it gets into the hands of a few people around here. If I can buy an EVGA today without having some of the same experiences and general feelings of unrefinement I had with the X58 Classified back then, maybe something like this is in my future.

I considered X79 for my current system but there really weren't any decent boards at Micro Center so that was the day I bought my 4770K and Formula. A few days later I found a review of the Black Edition you have. I actually considered for a while returning the Haswell/Formula to go with the BE because I was just blown away by what I saw in the reviews. Nice board for sure thumb.gif
