the minority consumers buying $200-$500 graphic cards know their way around simple gpu modifications. The idiots who "damage their cards" are the ones that are more of a minority IMO.
who is more likely to EVEN CONSIDER modding their gpu?
-consumer A (has little to none experience with computer hardware)
-consumer B (the ~~average overclock.net member)
obviously person A has a 95% of damaging their gpu but what are the chances they even know whats right or whats wrong? what are the chances they are educated enough to know that they even need to perform a gpu mod? they probably dont know how to dissemble the gpu in the first place.
consumer B has the proper knowledge and skill-set to know that "hey, i think i should replace the TIM" or "time to put this underwater" or "the stock cooler is rubbish, might need to replace it"- their chances of damaging the gpu is almost slim to none.
my 2 cents anyway.
