The thing with the HD650 is that they don't stand out. Its not a "wohaaaaaaaaaa!" the moment you put them on. No, you realise how much you like them when you try other cans and realise the flaws on the music, the harshness and many other things that are part of the recording (and NOT the headphone). So, if you listen to very specific music that you know for certain that its been properly recorded, produced and mastered... or like some specific genres then the HD650 has close to no place. But if you want a do-it-all headphone, the HD650 does all styles decent (not great), and is able to accept the worst youtube videos there are (contrary to many other high-end headphones, that will make you puke if the source is not good enough since they will spit in your face all the defects).
There is no scaling. Its either the headphone is properly driven, or its not. Try the HD555 with a computer onboard sound card... then try it out of any amp that has enough to power them. Sound changes a lot... sure, they don't make them what they aren't. Simply put: non-amped, I have $20 that sound better. Amped... well, they might hold their ground @ $100.

Driving headphones isn't and all or nothing circumstance. For example, a well driven HD650 won't sound better than a poorly driven HD800. The HD650 just doesn't have the resolution to be technically better. If you heard an HD800 on a well matched amp, it will blow you away. Based on volume, many devices can "drive" an HE-6 to ear piercing levels, but not everything can drive them well. I use a speaker amp for mine and I don't get additional distortion, but I do get way more control.

You have a lot of misunderstanding in regards to headphones. I suggest you stop spreading misinformation. Post like these are what have ruined great forums like headfi.

What you are referring to is the lack of understanding of the users' understanding of the impedance load over the frequency spectrum. When headphones are "rated" for a certain load, it does not mean the drivers are being properly "driven" in order to replicate their desired sound signature or accuracy. The HD555s might be rather low in impedance, but over the 1K frequncy band, their load is anywhere from 100-250 Ohms. Hence why the HD555s were said to benefit from an amp but users would awkwardly state they never needed one.

*This is not the case for all headphones.

I'll be fine with my Siberia's and in the near future, a snowball mic.

160D with an HD800 is very far from the best I've heard them. I heard them off an Eddie Current Super 7 and they are scary good! Really gives the SR-009 a run for the money. My HE-6 rig also gives the SR-009 a run for the money too.

I'm Surprised that the G4ME ZERO (Similar to a PC350SE) is more expensive then the G4ME ONE (Similar to a PC360). From everything i have read the PC360 is the better headset for gaming vs the PC350 SE, so i would it would be the same as the one vs zero in terms of audio quality for gaming.

I am debating between which ones to get Zero or One. Leaning towards the One since its closer the PC360.

I have HD598s right now, but would like to move those away from gaming purposes and just use them as normal headphones, and i have Astro A50s in the living room, as i needed a wireless headset solution for my PS4 and Xbox one out there.

So it just surprises me that the Better sounding headphones are actually the cheaper choice. Am i missing something here?

Maybe it costs more to make a closed back sound just as good? Probably paying extra for the isolation.

I've had them on my woo wa6-se and but can't stand tube sound on the 800's. I've been through 8 amps now and find the burson to be great with the 800's. I've tried them on a number of amps, my other current Pathos Aurium is also pretty good but sound better on the fostex and my lcd-3's, I find tube sound not to be great with the 800's personally. I find myself coming back to the 800's and the 160D the most. The Eddie is a nice amp too i've read but I've not tried it.

happy listening!!

I've been looking at your Rig do you think that USB 7.1 that comes with the 363D is the same or better than 363D plugged in a soundcard directly??

Everything sounds worse with an USB-dongle (depending on soundcard).
