Monitor around 300€/$400 with decent black levels/contrast

I'm currently using a Dell U2412M, I'm mostly happy with it, but it has serious backlight bleed/ips glow issues.
I've tried exchanged it, got a new one. It's slightly better but still quite bad.

I will be using it for multimedia/work (programming, terminals/text editors with dark backgrounds) and some light gaming. I can stretch my budget a bit but I'd like to stay around $400.
Black levels and contrast are quite important, input lag being a secondary concern.
(the u2412m was adequate for gaming)

I've currently got my eye on the Dell P2414H, but I'm worried about the same bleed/glow issue.

How important is the resolution?

I'd say to not get another IPS. At that price you can almost get two cheapish *VA monitors like BenQ GW2xx0 (e.g. GW2260HM, GW2450HM, etc.). Nobody seems to make 1920x1200 or larger *VA screens, so it'd have to be 1080p.

Thanks, I'll have a look at those. The GW2450HM seems impressive for the price.

I'm not picky about the resolution, 1080p is fine.
