Best Headphones <$100 USD Shipped? - Page 2

The absolute best headphones for gaming under $100 would be:

1) Audio-Technica ATH-A500
2) Sennheiser HD555

They don't come with a mic attached, so you will have to buy a clip on mic.

The A500 would be the one I recommend the most because it's closed headphones, meaning that will isolate very well and provide a nice, tight bass because the back of the cups are sealed. They are huge (nearly CD sized cups) but they are very comfortable for long periods of time and fit on any head because of their 3D wings support. The sound stage for the A500 is pretty big, so it's perfect are audio positioning in games. They aren't portable by any means so bringing them to LAN parties may be a hassle, but so is lugging a huge case

The HD555 are open headphones, so they will not isolate at all because the back of the cups have an open grille which will let sound move in and out freely. Since they are open though, the sound reproduction is much more accurate but other's may hear the sound leak out. They are very comfortable and pretty durable as well, so long hours of gaming is fine with these. Bass is not going to be as nice as the A500, but it's far from being weak. The HD555 is the headphones of choice for most PC gamers, and I'd recommend them as well

Both Audio-Technica and Sennheiser are respected companies in the audiophile world. The A500 and HD555 aren't designed to be "gaming headphones" like the Icemat Siberia, but it beats all other "gaming headphones" hands down. Sennheiser is more well known by PC gamers than Audio-Technica, but not all their products are top-notch as most people think. I'd say that Audio-Technica is more of an underdog compared to Sennheiser and Beyerdynamics when it comes to headphones for gaming use.

Happy listening

Do not buy a USB headset. I'd definitely recommend the Icemat Siberia headset. I'm on my second pair.

Thread Starter
I was hoping you would reply Rakukojin. I went ahead and bought the Sennheiser HD555, as my fiance wont really be bothered by the sound that leaks out in comparison to my 5.1 speaker setup. Thankyou everyone for your input. The HD555 will be here in the next few days (overnight ftw). Ill post in this thread when I get them with an update. Thanks everyone!
