[Polygon] Assassin's Creed 4 developers pledge commitment to PC optimization - Page 2

Ok, not looking to start a flame war or anything, but why is there so much hate for Uplay and Origin? I've used both and while they aren't amazing like steam, they do get the job done. In fact, I'd say that I prefer them over other services like games for windows. Can someone explain why all the hate? Speeds are good, and I always get games at good prices elsewhere and just activate on their client.

Besides, we're supposed to paste the source title as is, unless unsituable.

Sorry about the above. Had to do it.

Back OT... Words are nice and all, but I want facts. They're definitely on the right track though.

Np that's my bad the original link I read was tweak town who's title was that. Then I saw polygon was the original source just for got to change it.

As far as it's concerned typos happen tongue.gif

Assassins creed 3 would argue that. Ran like garbage and didn't even look that great. 30 fps drop whenever looking towards a city? Greaaaaaat optimization.

You do know the article says starting with Assassins Creed IV right?

People didn't appreciate the way Origin strong-armed themselves into the Digital Distribution arena by forcing players to use their services if they wanted to play certain AAA titles such as Battlefield 3 (not to mention the datamining Origin does...). As to Uplay, I haven't really heard that much hate for Uplay (as Ubisoft also sells their titles on Steam), but any of it that is out there probably stems from people just not wanting to use a Digital Distribution service other than Steam.

Wow sooo they finally realized this after how long? It's great news nevertheless, however let's see some of that by product being accomplished after all these unoptimized ports, i'm still a bit skeptical.

Uplay? Didn't work as it was supposed to, crashed a lot before, refused to give me my content I had legally bought, servers down, terrible speeds etc etc etc... Others where having a lot of other issues. The service was utter garbage until they fixed a year ago or whatever it was.
Origin? Only thing that was good in the start was download speeds. The client crashed on me so many times I almost asked for a refund with BF3. Chat service did not work as it should even 1year after release!!!! It was a utter pain when playing BF3 with my friends, and the chat service worked 1/4 times even a year after... Seems to be a little better now, but the Orgin ingame does not work ingame BF4 in either 32 or 64bit version of the game AT ALL.

I can go on and on about them both, but I'll save it.

On topic: Ubisoft and optimization? Laughable. Assassin's Creed series is horribly optimized on PC and looks like console. Far Cry 3 is the only decent so far.

youre right I forgot that Ubisoft and Nvidia seem to have a partnership for all their games....oh well im just really hoping the game is optimized on launch cause its the #1 title I am looking forward to next year

Nice to see they're aware of the issues, but it's just empty promises until we see some actual results.
Installed Black Flag today, and let's just say, it wasn't pretty. The performance is all over the place, and while the game looks good, nothing I saw justifies the insane hardware requirements. If none of the issues get fixed, think I'll put the game aside for now, and go back when I upgrade to a more powerful card.
