Sale crossfire 7950 for r290?

EBay has the 7950 MSI tf3 going for $250. I have box and all accessories so should not have a problem selling.

So is one r290 worth 2x 7950 ? Or keep 7950 and see what is out in a year or 2

It wouldn't necessarily be more powerful than two 7950s, but overall, it would, imo, be the better choice, since you wouldn't have to deal with any of the headaches/hassles that come with running 2+ cards.

Given AMD's release schedule, you probably won't see anything new within a year, and the 7950s are starting to show a bit of age regarding performance these days (with higher res, i.e. 1440p+). Only probable release in the next year would be Nvidia's Maxwell.

You should be able to get about $220 for your 7950, so to upgrade from it to a 290 for only $180 isn't that shabby of a deal (not counting Ebay fees, which you could forgo if you sold locally).

I just went from two 7950's, Both slightly overclocked, to a single 290.

There is maybe 10% performance lost that I've noticed. Overall I'm happy with my decision. It's hard to explain, but everything just feels smoother. the min fps is higher in BF4, which is nice. I run 1440P on Ultra with no AA. I go from 70-170fps, avg around 90.

Before it would dip into the 60's.

I plan on getting another one to watercool in a few months, they do run hotter than the 7950s, but never 95C in BF4. I use a fan profile in MSI Afterburner.
