More questions on a big loop.

post #1 of 3
Thread Starter
I still cant figure out the exact components or the right loop order. This is where i'm at so far.

Dual bay reservoir. Either passive or a dual pump combo with twin D5/655 installed.

If I go without the pumps in the res then to something like this.

To the cpu block probably a XSPC Raystorm. or a XSPC Rasa I already have.

From the CPU block to the MOBO block.

Over to a ram block.

to both GPU blocks (Undecided on GPUs still so no link to components just yet, but it will be 2 nvidia in SLI)

to radiator. MO-RA3 9x120.

Is a single 9x120 radiator enough for this loop? Is a second radiator between the cpu/mobo/ram blocks and the 2 gpu blocks a better option?

Looks good to me. Except that the motherboard block you chose is for a AMD motherboard, while the sig rig you have is Intel.
Cooling RAM is a waste of money unless you like the look of it, motherboard is also next to no gain unless you again like the look.

XSPC Raystorm is a very good CPU block, and will no doubt recommend it.
D5/655's are the only pumps I ever use, strong and reliable.

9x120 is no doubt enough for this system. I run a single loop with sig rig here, with a 480 + 240 radiator cooling it just fine, and this is with two highly clocked Lightning's. It could of course be a little better, but it's more than enough. So my setup is basically one 360 rad less than the one you are proposing.

Bay res's are falling out of favor due to noise and seam leakage concerns.

Load Calcs

4770k = 145 (4.8 Ghz @ 1.4 v)
MoBo Chipset = 20
MoBo VRMs = 20
GTX 780 = 290 (sickly overclocked)
GTX 780 = 290 (sickly overclocked)
Pumps = 35

Watts 800

At 1250 rpm ..... the 360mm of rad (Alphacool UT60-360 according to martinsliquidlab gives ya 188 watts in pull, figure 227 in push/pull. you have the rough equivalent of 3 of those (assumed 60mm rad) so the rads will handle 681 watts or 85% of ya cooling load at delta 10C. That leaves just 14% to be radiated from everything else inside ya case....which is extremely good. I would recommend a minimum of 60%

BTW, at 1800 rpm, your rads would handle 325 x 3 or 975 watts giving you a theoretical delta T of only 8C ....

Less than 5°C = Extreme system
Between 5°C and 10°C = Extreme to High-end system
Between 10°C and 20°C = High-end to Mid-range system
Between 20°C and 30°C = Mid-range to Entry-level system
