Want to OC a 6400

Thread Starter
Whats up guys. I just finished my first build a few days ago and all is fine. Now I want to overclock the cup and ram to maybe get a lil bit more punch out of it. Also I just like to learn new things.

Anyway you can see my specs in my sig. So far I have overclocked the CPU to 2.6GHz w/ no probs. I ran OCCT for about 10 hrs and came up w/ no errors. My temps are in the high 40s to mid 50s as of right now. I think this is a bit high, but w/ stock cooling I was at 50 b4 I even OC'd. BTW I'm now using a Zalman CNPS 9500 w/ arctic silver 5. It brought my temps down to 30 b4 I overclocked.

Basically I'm looking for a stable 1:1 ratio. Any suggestions?

you dont want to go above 55C under load, so if your already at mid 50s i wouldnt overclock anymore then 2.6

Are you getting enough ventilation? My e6400's OCed to 2.5 and running at 36 C and 42 C under load. You should check ventilation as well as how well you applied the thermal paste before proceeding.

how much AS5 did you use, was it more then this

if it is, take off the zalman and reapply with a small dot (about the size of a grain of rice) in the center of the chip. what is in that pic is even too much, i have to reapply it.
