so how much money hit will you take from selling titans and buying 780ti? I am personally going with the rule from toms hardware and upgrading only if i get 3 tiers above then previous gpu. I am also pleased that you are ok with 3GB vram
i bought 4 months ago a 780OC windforce 3 from gigabyte for 600eur with 231W TDP and it runs everything at least at 50-60avg fps on my single 1440p.
now i will buy in future a second one (costs 450eur now) as thats 55W less TDP per card, and the difference is not that far from 780TI
thing is, that only game that might interest and push my hardware is star citizen (cryengine3.5+) running currently around 30-40 fps, so i will need a second card to get over 60fps@60hz 1440p ips monitor
on guru3d there were reviews, 780OC in may and 780TI, GB 780TIOC from november, see fps @1440p in Crysis 3:
card november may
Titan 43 39
780 40 36
there is increase between november and may reviews because of driver but delta is same
780OC is 1fps better than stock titan and 4fps vs stock 780
780TI is 1fps better than stock titan and 4fps vs stock 780
as you can see the difference between stock 780OC and 780TI vs stock titan is nearly 1fps, vs stock 780 4fps less.
ergo oem 780TI is equal to 780OC windforce 3 while 780OC costs 450eur and has over 55W less TDP
but the 780TIOC has 5more fps -49, yet its still not 60fps and we are still talking about avg not minimum fps.
so if I want to reach minimum i must go with a second 780 for 450eur or less in a year from now
you should check out Star Citizen, I would love to see on youtube if you were to make a video about it on your rig. The dogfighting module starts next month or if theres a delay in january
