Xeon L5639 supported motherboards

Thread Starter

OK, I am joining the craze, simply because I loved LGA1366 back when I had it, and the 12 thread monster was cheap as chips. But I now am in possession of an MSI Big Bang Xpower and an Asus P6X58-E WS motherboard and can't decide which one to go with. But more specifically before I waste time I can only verify that the Asus supports this chip, but the MSI does not show this as a supported chip on its website.

Is there anyone that can verify that the L5639 is supported on the Xpower.

And does anyone have any opinion on which board would be a better pairing for an L5639...

I actually just bought one of these also. I am running it on my EVGA x58 SLI.
There is a thread over on Anandtech forums seems most higher end x58 boards work, some of the lower end asus boards weren't that great, along with the foxconn boards. I'd try digging through those forums, would have been nice if they had a list of boards that worked to make it easier.

Yea I had done a quick look on google as well and was striking out on finding definitive answers as it seems to be spread all over the place =(  Might end up testing it myself just wanted to save time if possible. I know some of the top hits are here at OCN, was surprised someone hadn't created a group and a google document for it already!
