i own a number of headphones , including some of the ones you have been considering or owned

i have the ATH-M50, Beyerdynamic DT770 (pro 80) , I owned the ATH-AD700 (hated them no bass whatsoever...sold them) , Shure 440 , JVC HA-RX700 and also one that I'm going to highly recommend for gaming

pioneer SE-A1000 I have had mine for a couple months love them... $45 (right now at least on amazon) ... fantastic soundstage for gaming generally excellent sq and actual bass ...unlike the AD700s

of what i own the SE-A1000 and DT770 Pro 80 are be far the most comfortable ... I love the DT770's also much bass fun headphones... not so good for sound stage however but meh...

No they aren't the best for FPS games, so look elsewhere if that's your focus. But they're fine with binaural software and very clear.

They're really nice headphones that I often recommend to music lovers for a cheap price, but you should try them on an amp. They make the T50RPs perform better, it's not simply a volume issue. Try it out sometimes, let me know what you think.

I agree, orthodynamics really do see a lot of improvement from an amp. Running off onboard you would probably get distortion on the low end and on higher volumes, but they would be crystal clear with an amp.

My ST has a built in amp, and they do sound better biggrin.gif

But they also sound fine off an iPhone.

Thanks for the help. I tried the SRH-440s and the AKG 240 studio at a local shop and I will be getting the AKG 240 Mkii. Sounds fantastic, even and was very comfortable.
