Making the switch z87 advice please?

Hey Guys,
Well I've finally decided to switch to intel after a being a AMD gamer for the last 10+ years.
Im considering a i5 or i7 haswell. Im not sure whether i7 is more future proof the difference is about $100.
My biggest confusion is what z87 board. MSI, Gigabyte, Asrock, Asus?
I don't think I can afford $399 for asus maximus. Im wanting to spend 199-250.
Its for gaming like I said, I'd like to push the CPU with after market cooling up to 4.2-4.5ghz. Probably run 16gb 2133 ram.
The MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Motherboard $199 looks good and cheap but my friend hates MSI so I wasn't sure.
ASRock Z87 Killer Motherboard is $189
Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC Motherboard is $258
ASUS Z87-PLUS Motherboard $231

Whats your suggestion, can be another board?thanks

I'm currently doing a new Haswell build and I'm about 90% sure I'm getting the Maximus Hero board.

It's cheaper than the GA-Z87X-OC and ASUS Z87-PLUS. $219.99 on Newegg.
There's a few Maximus boards, the Hero and Extreme.

The Hero is the one priced at $219.99.

I too reccomend the Hero at its price point, not even including the features you get.

G45 should be fine. How much they ask for GA-Z87X-D3H or UD3H?

2 boards I like right now are msi g45 and Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC Motherboard
msi is 199
gb is 258
both boards look real good. id prob be more inclined to pay abit extra for giga byte just because ive never had any problems. crosshair iv was my first asus board and its been a very good board.
as far as cpu goes i5 4670K vs i7 4770k for gaming? Im leaning towards i5, just because I don't think the threads will do a lot for games and its 100 cheaper.
