because as soon as valve launch Steam OS with Nvidia hardware anyone who wants to try out SteamOS with AMD will fail hard (so thats a fair few million people) They sacked their Linux driver team last year. Taking that in context, we then look towards windows 9/10 cloud future where hardware beyond excellent streaming capability and simple apps becomes less needed hence the move towards SFF systems, Tablets for touch , and SOC and we see that as far as 'what’s needed' graphics are concerned you dont need a 300w 6GB GDDR. 512bit GPU sitting on the edge.
I know this is marketing (different budgets) but one month on and they still haven’t got a good fully working 290 driver for Linux. Where as Nvidia had the driver ready for the 780Ti before it was out. Even the mac doesn’t have any support or hint of card support for the 290 yet where as its possible to get a 780Ti working on Mac.
There only interested in consoles now.. and this is the last generation of 'hardware on the edge' for consoles
Just think there playing a big marketing game and yet their products aren’t the hype. There also dropping decent CPU's so where are they going to be in 5 years?
AMD have always shipped crap drivers, they can talk a game about Mantle but that’s only part of the pictureEdited by Pip Boy - 11/24/13 at 10:22am
