have you tried setting it up like I said? Just leave the windows sound device selected on the 'analogue out' device like pic in post #5

And then set your Asus audio center like this:

This is the only way for me to get 5.1 from my Asus Xonar D2/PM to my yamaha amp without using analog 5.1 connection.

If I use windows device settings to switch to my SPDIF connection it messes something up and I only get 2 channel stereo on my amp no matter which setting I use in the Asus audio center.

But after inspecting your asus xonar DG spec's they indeed do not list any dolby or DTS features which for example are in fact listed in the spec's of my Asus Xonar D2/PM

So Tiihokatti is probably right thumb.gif

But i don't want it to do any decoding/encoding.

Rather me post another picture of the manual. If you read this post

It says it does DTS.

what other options besides PCM do you have in that spdif out dropdown menu in your asus audio center software?

None, but good news!

In the settings for the ac3 filter, you can "disallow PCM output in SPDIF mode". When this is checked, I get DTS on my amp so all is well I guess..

yes, that sounds good as they mention using PCM with spdif out will result in 2 channel sound. thumb.gif

can you post a screenshot of the menu with that option?

Sure; I have actually got it to work two ways now. The first is a setting in the ac3filter config options.

And the second is make sure you have the audio renderer within mpc hc set as your sound card pass through device.

Now the only bad thing is with either of these setups, I get a crack/pop when I pause/restart video.
