SATA + no SATA

Thread Starter
hey , im going to be buying a SATA drive with my new rig , and i have an old 80 gig drive i want to use for backup and what not. Does it matter if its SATA or not? like , will there be an conflicts with XP or the hardware? Or will it just be 1 SATA drive and 1 IDE Drive?

Thanks.

-cheers

Naw man. You're good. I have two IDE hard drives, and one SATA2 drive. Works great =)

no problems, i have raid 0 config with my 2 spinpoint drives. before i changed to raid i had one ide & one sata i backed all my data to the ide then unplugged it. i then purchased another sata same as the one i got made up the raid 0. installed o/s the replugged the ide, transferred my important data from the ide drive & hey presto good as new with better load time on levels in games. Play AVP alot and Fear,RAID 0 has got me on the map first every time now.

As long as no raid is involved.

When they are set up as basic disks, you are fine!
