Internet Connection Drops Out Often (Limited Time to solve)

Thread Starter
I recently started to experience frequent drops in connections with my internet. It all started after I changed my IP Addressing Scheme to 192.168.1.X /24 to 192.168.128.X/24. I also had to disable DHCP on my server because it wasn't working properly because it wasn't handing out IP Addresses (PFSense if handling that right now). I also put a media server up now cause I needed more room for my media. I was going to do my live stream sunday night but I kept getting disconnected. Keep in mind this problem started to happen AFTER I changed my IP Addressing Scheme. Any suggestions? and also my ping times keep spiking up past 100MS which is horrible for live streaming

You using static IP's anywhere? Also you could have confilcting DHCP servers

The only statics are my two servers, one is my main server and one is my media server. I was able to stableize the ping times with a driver update on my main desktop. I troubleshooted for well over 4 hours taking my time and narrowed it to my main desktop. Now i need to get dhcp back up to full strength on my main server cause i use wds a lot with my systems. Im not getting any ip addresses with dhcp on my main server. I have dhcp disabled on my pfsense box and my wap

Post your network topology with assigned IP's, services on different computers and other things that might be relevant.

Want me to draw the topology out? and i'm running all the services that are on by default. I can't think of much to add on right now. As I said in the last post I narrowed it down to my main desktop. I updated my NIC driver and it seemed to fix the problem for now. As for DHCP, still haven't been able to get it to run properly on my Windows Server 2008 R2. It isn't handing out IP addresses at all. Idk whats up there right now. It has been working for a while till I changed the network address around

What kind of scopes do you have configured on your Win2k8 box?

I just have basic scopes set on my Win2K8 Server. The range from 192.168.128.101 to 192.168.128.254. For the DNS portion of that scope I have Enabled DNA Dynamic Updates and the option selected is Always dynamically update DNS A and PTR Records. I also have checkmarked "Discard A and PTR records when lease is deleted" and "Dynamicallu update dns A and PTR records for DHCP clients..., The network access protection is disabled and advanced I have only set for DHCP

I only have one scope going for my home network.

I also looked at the event log as well and saw this:
"The DHCP/BINL service on the local machine, belonging to the Windows Administrative domain SKULL.LOCAL, has determined that it is not authorized to start. It has stopped servicing clients. The following are some possible reasons for this:
This machine is part of a directory service enterprise and is not authorized in the same domain. (See help on the DHCP Service Management Tool for additional information).

This machine cannot reach its directory service enterprise and it has encountered another DHCP service on the network belonging to a directory service enterprise on which the local machine is not authorized.

Some unexpected network error occurred."

in the detailed section:
"Log Name: System

Event ID: 1046
Task Category: None

Some of the warnings I got:
"The DHCP service has detected that it is running on a DC and has no credentials configured for use with Dynamic DNS registrations initiated by the DHCP service. This is not a recommended security configuration. Credentials for Dynamic DNS registrations may be configured using the command line "netsh dhcp server set dnscredentials" or via the DHCP Administrative tool." Code 1056

"This computer has at least one dynamically assigned IPv6 address. For reliable DHCPv6 server operation, you should use only static IPv6 addresses." Code 10020

"No DHCP clients are being served, as the Allow list is empty and the server was configured to provide DHCP services, to clients whose hardware addresses are present in the Allow List." Code 20098

Anything else I can add on? I'll have that topology done when I get home from college which will be around 4:30pm EST at the latest
