HDMI sync issues, can NVIDIA help me?

What's up OCN.

My setup is as follows: PC>Sony AV receiver>Sony HDTV.

I keep having issues with video and audio. Everything from: The screen being slightly off center (I actually see a black bar on the side of the screen), washed out colors, to audio cutting out for approx two seconds every 5-8 minutes. If I power cycle the TV and Receiver the issue is fixed, until I for some reason have to turn them off again later. So the problem centers around detecting the audio and video devices, once powered up.

After a lot of research I've ruled out the hardware and isolated the issue to an issue between Windows and ATI's drivers. I also noticed most people with my problem have an ATI card. See this article: here

My question is: Does anyone here have a setup like mine using an NVIDIA card? (PC>AV RECEIVER>HDTV ) Does it work well for you?

I'm seriously thinking of selling this HD7770 and jumping ship to NVIDIA if I can get this issue resolved. Thoughts?

I have a GTX680 > HDMI out > Onkyo receiver. Currently no problems.
Have had issues in the past where I would get no sound after switching to the receiver, turning the receiver off and on fixed this in a similar way to your problem. This is not an issue now, had no problems for a year or so.

Thanks for the reply.

Got to admit that's not what I was wanting to hear. So I guess NVIDIA had this issue also. Really frustrating. So I just have to get used to power cycling all the time?

I don't have any issues currently. The problems I had in the past were with a GTX480.

Cool.

Question, does Windows see your AV receiver as "generic plug and play monitor".

No, Windows sees my receiver as "TX-SR508", the model number of my Onkyo receiver.

That may be part of my problem not sure.

I used a program called Moninfo to force a driver for my AV receiver but, I still had the issue.
