Why the Gigabyte (also, I already own bf4)? I do not have experience with either card or manufacturer and I was going strictly based off the specs.

in the past the wf3 cards used to have the best cooling i do remmber asus tops card having problems with temps i cant say how the card you linked does tho someone else would need to chim in. And you could sell the bf4 code to get the cards for even less sell it for 25-40 bucks and take that much more off the price.

Like your thinking man. Does anybody else have experience on the cooling side of the recommended cards?

Thanks,

yeah the asus r9 280x dc2t is the best reviewed and quietest r9 280x. good choice. thumb.gif

the gigabyte wf3 is louder. you can hear that in the video above

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-r9-280x-third-party-round-up,3655-6.html

"The DirectCU II heatsink and hybrid fan are a real winner on the ASUS R9 280X DC2T video card. It idles the lowest temperature and at full-load hits exactly what ASUS claimed it would. We saw it hit 74c and never exceeded this. It did so with a 42% fan speed. Therefore, the GPU was running cooler than the GTX 770 and Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition. There was no fan noise, even during full-load. The cooling configuration is a success on the ASUS R9 280X DC2T."

http://www.anandtech.com/show/7400/the-radeon-r9-280x-review-feat-asus-xfx/20

"Once we start looking at load noise levels however, the picture changes completely. As impressive as the XFX card was at idle, it doesn’t begin to compare to the Asus card under load. We have a card that’s channeling nearly 250W of heat out and away on a sustained basis, and yet for all of that work it generates just 41.5dB(A) of noise on our testbed. This is simply absurd in the most delightful fashion. Most of the cards in our data collection idle at just 2dB lower than this, never mind noise under load. As a result this is incredibly close to being functionally silent; in the case of our testbed the Asus card isn’t even the principle noise source when it’s under load."

I measured my old to 560(9") and with my case it will be very difficult to get the r9 280x(11") to fit. At this point I think my only option is going back to the original option of the gtx 770 at 10", still a bit tight but very doable. I appreciate all the feedback and assistance.
