EVGA 1000 G2 Dead, go for 1300 G2 this time instead? Also which UPS?

I went home this past weekend because i shipped my new 900D there instead of my apartment, got it all together and plugged it in, and boom its all gone to a power surge/brownout im not sure. I was only planing on plugging it in long enough to see if it still turned on so i didn't use a surge protector or bring my UPS home since its literately 40lbs and bulky.

The 28" monitor i brought home also took the hit too, and also doesn't power up. At first i thought my motherboard and everything was dead, but now im able to get it to light up with a spare PSU, but still not turn on (but the spare psu is kinda of flaky too, the 24pin is lose and doesn't make good connection sometimes). Our insurance company wants to get the stuff checked by a PC store before they will payout. This is fine since my friends dad owns a PC shop that i worked at 2-3 years ago when i was in highschool.

I know 100% sure i will need a new PSU, I loved my 1000 G2 ive only owned it for about 3 months RIP. I plan on ordering a new PSU tonight so i can have amazon 1 day it before thanksgiving break so im not stuck at home without anything to do.... Ive found my same 1000 G2 power supply, or i can get a 1300 G2 for only $20 more so to me it seems silly not to use this as an upgrade path. I do plan on getting either another 7990 or a 7970 for tri or quadfire because why not/brag/pimp/benchmark rights but also i play 5760x1080 and games like BF4 can drop to as low as 40 FPS .

Also to prevent this again, i will be bringing a UPS with me everywhere i plug in my PC no matter how big and bulky it is, its cost me several days and possibly hundreds of $$$ for not lugging it with me. I want to buy a new one since my current one is no telling how old, i bought it from a friend in like new condition 3-4 years ago for $50 its a 1000VA unit from PowerCon but the battery i think is weak now it only last for like 10 seconds, and often just shuts off the PC anyways if their is a power bloop.

Im looking at these 2 units, i don't know much about UPS or their quality nor which brands to buy.

I will use the new UPS to power my desktop and 1-2 monitors my old one to power the other 3-4 monitors i have setup and my speakers and other crap.

you should check with EVGA just in case, their customer support is top notch, i wouldnt be surprised if you ran it over with your car and they replaced it for you.

Last product ive had to rma with EVGA was not near that pleasant, after 4 DOA evga motherboards in a row, they finally told me it was my fault and i had scratched the last one and would not replace.

im assuming it was an x79 mobo? they didnt have much luck with their older boards tongue.gif

you should give them another shot really, ive had nothing but wonderful experiences with them.

also you should check this out

That could possibly be attributed to your problems, i doubt it, but if they give you any hassle about it maybe try to blame it on that?

honestly i believe they will take care of you here, but in the offchance they dont...
