Has this happened to anyone else?

Hey guys and gals:

I've started on my build and after about 6 hours of building/reading manual/cable management, I finished.

Then the trouble started: first my mobo said chassis intruded and frozen at one of the startup pages right after it detects my ide-dvd burner. It also could not detect my keyboard. I found the solution to that on another forum and reset my cmos.

Unfortunately, it still will not power my keyboard with the ps2 jack. I was wondering if there's anyway I can get into the bios and turn the option of power on keyboard to enable....

Also it skips past the page where it list all the bios stuff so fast I can't see what it says anymore. I however do get 1 beep in the beginning, then 4 beeps between the jmicron bootup page and the ameri something bootup page. Then I'm stuck at a reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key.

Have you made sure that the keyboard is, infact, pluged into the keyboard jack and not the mouse jack? I know it sounds stupid, but I have done just that and spent far to long trying to figure out why my keyboard wasnt working

Yea, it's in the purple one. I tested it on a rig with only a mobo/power supply and it powered on in that one. I can turn the num. lock on and off.

Slight update. I tried using a wireless keyboard and of course it didn't work. But it did go from 4 to 2 beeps. It also now stops at the American Megatrends bios startup page. I get

1-Make sure that no stand-offs are touching the board.

2-If you have an old version of BIOS, update the board with a flash drive with the latest ones, I believe they're the 0804 but I'd highly recommend the 0711 instead. I have 'em and if you want, I can e-mail them to you, it's less than a meg.

3-RAM; see if you can try one module at a time, individually.

4-Take the sound card out.

I ripped everything out of my case. Now the mobo is sitting on top of a box on an anti-static bag. The keyboard's finally working, and so is the videocard. It's detecting both sticks of my ram and my hdd's. Now I'm stuck at the raid page, lol. I press ctrl+i and after entering the menu, it just kind of freezes. My mobo is currently 614 bios. I already have 711 bios cause I've read the comments about it, and complaints about the 804. Now attempting to flash the bios, and it froze. Today is just not my day, lol

Are you trying with one module at a time? Use one stick, if it does freeze, use the 2nd one, if it does, then try a different PSU.

Place the board on a hard surface, away from the static bag also.

Try using a different hard drive, could possibly be a bad HDD.

WARNING!

Incase you didn't know, Anti-static bags are technically conductive. Obviously not as conductive as a sheet of aluminum, but conductive none the less. You run a high risk of damaging your motherboard if powering it on while sitting on an anti-static bag. No matter how miniscule of a shock is delivered to a component, the damage will be done. Even if the board seemingly functions afterward, odd and extremely difficult to pinpoint issues can arise later down the road.

Incase you are unsure of this fact, many electronics procedural guides state the same.

Problem solved...a gold screw thing between mobo/case was under the sodering of the ps2/keyboard input plug. Now I just got to find a floppy to get the raid to work.
