[gamenguide] Xbox One Problems Worsen: Smoking Consoles and Green Screens of Death Reported

If you thought disc drive troubles were bad, count your blessings, because some Xbox One owners are reporting far worse problems. How bad? About $500 worth of plastic and chips going up like a pack of Marlboros bad.

It's hard to believe, but that's the story of two users are reporting on the Xbox Support Forum, claiming that their consoles actually started smoking after showing an amber light.

You'd think 7-8 years would be enough time to develop and iron out all of the bugs before release?

played fine for the most of the 22nd into the 23rd until about after 16 hours of gaming, mine just shut off and power supply was amber

Did he play for 16 hours straight? If so, then these consoles aren't like PC's. They can't be on indefinitely.

Have played my PS3 for 36 hours and PS4 for 20 hours straight before. That is really not an excuse.

Why wouldn't they be able to? What's your arbitrary determination of how long they should be on for? Consoles are PCs too. There's no reason they can't run 24/7.

The thing these articles usually fail to point out is percentages, Let alone keep them updated.. By this I mean, of consoles in the wild, how many have reported issues.. Even a rough ballpark would be nice, Instead it turns into "OMGZ EVERY XBONE IS FIRE HAZZARDDD!@!!JKJE$KA#(JA*%Y* ".. When dont get me wrong , PC all the way, Consoles have their place, and no owner should have this happen, let alone first day.. Regardless of platform. Just like your gpu shouldn't go up in flames 3rd day, but lets not forget it happens. Who remembers the GTX 570 fiasco?

Allso , Arent the 290x having problems with grey screen or something? or is it black screen this generation?

not trolling, thought I remembered reading there was an issue some were reporting, Correct if I am incorrect

Are you being sarcastic? I hope you're being sarcastic. They're electronics with known heat output and a cooling mechanism to match. There's no difference between that and a small form factor computer.

I remember the GTX 590 fiasco. That was fun.

We all should know that these are isolated incidents. And we don't know the details. Did the boxes have adequate ventilation? Did they wrap the consoles in blankets? It's still no reason to go up in smoke, but you know...

Well after reading that thread I hardly think it's news worthy. No pictures, no real details. It's all just sensationalism of the games news places cashing in on the fanboy war. A war that is ridiculous to begin with.
