PLAY m2ts files / XBMC no go?

Thread Starter
well I got all my movies in m2ts files :/
Windows media player no problem...
I had my nieces come over and popped my XBMC and the HD scan came up empty... (heartbreak)
so I just went to explorer and 2xclicked on the file and winmedia player played it fine...

What programs do you guys use for m2ts for playing vidz?
I wanted something that had the XBMC thumbnail display and sorting features...and wanted to move away from windows explorer...

Would Mediaplex work?....I didnt try it last night rolleyes.gif

Try out K-Lite Codec pack (Aka Media player classic).

I replaced VLC and Windows media player with that and have never looked back.
It uses less resources and plays way more files natively than VLC ever could. With this program I could run HD on a single core cpu, while in VLC there was only lag.

Can't help you with XBMC though, as I don't use it.

Re-multiplex them using MKVMerge. It does not re-encode them so no quality loss, but the MKV files are XBMC friendly.

I checked the home page ....no mention of m2ts files...

Does it do batch work? So I can just process and go on selected videos...

But quite honestly kinda tedious since I just want to rely on one thing instead of having several players for each type of video not to mention that Im browsing through several interfaces/guiS....either way no biggie Im still in the beta stages of getting the basement htpc up and running...so far so good...just have to figure out what to do with 4 random IDE drives which I have raided before but had to reinstall windows 7 so have to redo...or if not have then as a NAS on a separate PC I have lying around.....in the end I think it would be better for me to just but several 2tb drives and it would be a perfect setup as a standalone and a dual purpose NAS (something I still need to dabble in)

and deciding whether to use freeNAS or NAS4free....on queue

The program does do M2TS and it does do batches. I do it all the time as I store everything in MKV.

Ok thanks!
I will do some testing on MKVMERGE...sounds interesting enough...once I see how easy it is I just might apply it to all my files...

Thanks bud!

No problem. MKV is an open container format that is playable by just about everything (Media Player classic, VLC, XBMC, you name it). All 4 terabytes of my video collection is in MKV format. It's worth the conversion process.
