Guys

I've got this guy who is trying to sell me a Samsung MZ7TD256HAFV-000L7 however I can't find anything on this particular piece of kit.

Anyone got any ideas what it is and if it's any good?

Cheers

Maybe a revision of the 840 pro?

Getting a few google hits: http://www.harddrivebenchmark.net/hdd.php?hdd=SAMSUNG+MZ7TD256HAFV-000L7&id=5787

I also found a few references to it in new lenovo ultrabooks. Probably a cheaper 840 for laptop OEMs.

Yeah, that's kind of what I thought it may be, I found this on passmark

So it looks like a cut down version of the 840 pro

From what I've found it seems an OEM version of the 840. Model: SM841 (sata) or PM841 (msata)

I would've said the 256gb would indicate an 840 pro; but, from this website, it seems like a normal 840 in a 256gb package?

Found some more info on a German lenovo forum. Apparently it is an SED (self-encrypting drive), which is why it is used in some of lenovo's business ultrabooks. I think general performance is a bit lower than Samsung's mainstream drives of that generation.
