Also why are games now costing £55? They still probably cost the same as on xbox 360 to make so why the extra £15 charge?

They lose money on every console they sell.... you want them to give away the accessories too?

Corporations wouldn't exist, and would go out of business like OCZ if they gave things away like you people want them to!

Technically the DDR3+ESRAM has a greater theoretical performance level. However, there is a greater amount of technical finesse needed on the part of the dev to really get the maximum performance out of the setup. This is very similar to the setup for the 360, which prolly explains why it was kept similar.

Counter that with the PS4 and Mark Cerney who, when asked how to setup the memory structure, decided on a slower but always constant memory bandwith. After the PS3, I believe Sony really took stock in trying to simplify the PS4 as much as possible from a development standpoint; in order to appeal to as many different sizes as development teams as possible.

Even if the ESRAM and DDR3 combo is theoretically faster the problem then comes from having to code for it and having a slower GPU on top of everything. So yeah...say a dev COULD code perfectly for the X1's memory setup and sap every ounce of performance from it...fact still remains that the PS4 would still dominate it just due to the GPU alone.

So either way it really isn't a plus in my book. MS should have dropped the Kinect and all the T.V. stuff and just went with straight gaming...because ya know...that's what I thought a gaming console was for. Instead they decided to include a bunch of filler and have now paid the price because of it. Their console is slower...it is inferior...which means they can only look forward to lower quality multiplatform games and better looked exclusives on the PS4 (something tells me that Uncharted for the PS4 is going to be something the X1 could only DREAM of running).

This is a very common problem and it happens with PC games as well; one company's developers go with the idea that makes it easier for them without thinking of longevity. I don't understand how companies (especially large ones with the resources to do and know better like Microsoft) keep making the mistake of making it easy for them, but difficult for the people who are going to sell their product. Last gen we had a lot of issues with game developers struggling to make things seamless across all consoles, and PC games that used resources as though they were on a 360. It just doesn't make sense. I wish this mistake hadn't been made.

Inferior? No. Less powerful? Yes.

I happen to like the multi-media features and I heavily used those things last generation. So what if the console is less powerful because of it? I have a high end desktop computer when I want raw power.
