Do I need the Asmedia SATA Controller, when I have native Intel Z87 ones on my ASUS Maximus VI Hero?

Thread Starter
Maybe a stupid question but still: Is there ANY reason to use the "Asmedia SATA 6 GB's" Why would I want to hookup any of my SATA drives to either of those 2 ports, rather than Intel's Z87 native ones?

I am running Samsung 840 SSD Pro (256GB) and 2 GB Seagate regular HD. No RAID...

Thank you all again for your input and help.

Always use SSD's and/or fastest drives on native controller.
Native controller is ALWAYS better still to this date, but perhaps in the future they will be equal.

So since you only have two drives, run them both on native to get the best performance (Specially for SSD's).
