Running 2133mhz ram with FX 8150

Ok so I got a MSI 990FXA-GD80 board with an FX8150 and 16gb Gskill jipjaw x 2133mhz. I can run it 1866@11-11-11-28 no sweat. I have tried the XMP profile, I have tried manually setting timings and frequency to 2133mhz, with voltage of 1.65v. I cannot seem to get it stable. Should I loosen the timings? The 2133mhz default timings are 11-11-11-30@1.6v.

Definitely try playing with the timings, but IIRC the memory controllers in AMD processors don't like to clock the ram very high, I think 1866 is near the max for the average AMD CPU.

1866mhz is kickin', but definitely don't give up on since the RAM is rated for 2133, it's only logical to try to utilize it thumb.gif

Played with the timings some but as of now I'm getting no where. 1866 isn't bad at all. And the fact my AMD mobo can hit XMP profiles in the newest bios is amazing. I'll play with it in my own time I guess. Great thing about intel burn test, it gives back negative results with unstable ram. Found that out today. I don't gotta sit hours in memtest86+ right away, and instead can see if the base is stable.

1866 is indeed the controller max, but AMD loves fast ram as it puts out better performance from the CPU.
