PCI:E 8X slot for physics?

Thread Starter
My motherboard has a pcie 16x slot and a 8x slot.

I know I cant run sli with this, but I was wondering if I end up getting the GTX 760 could I use my GTX 460 in the 8x slot for a dedicated physics card? Or would there be a way I could actually run SLI with a 8x, or would it even perform right if I could either way?

Also even if any of that was possible, would a 550 watt power supply be able to power all or any of that?

your psu wouldnt handle it and if your talking about the original board that came with the xps 420 then no the card will not fit in the 8x slot in that motherboard

Why even waste the electricity? I went from a GTX 460 to a GTX 660 both have PhysX to a 7950 w/out PhysX and I feel as though I have lost nothing. PhysX seems like a marketing gimmick.

Ah ok. Ya it is the original motherboard that came with the xps 420. I figured it would be a long shot at best but would have been a good way to put the old card to use. Oh well, I guess I can still sell the 460 after / if I get the 760. Or just give it to my uncle, he is without a gpu right now.

Also, anyone know if the GTX 760's will be on sale at a decent price this Friday? Dunno if TigerDirect or Nvidia really do a lot of price cutting for black Friday or not.
