New i3 4340 build running a little hot

Hi everyone,

I just finish up a build for my parents. Their main use is mostly for office work and online video streaming. They also wanted to go with a small form factor and quick start up.

So I finished my build with,

Antec Basiq Series VP450 450 Watt ATX Power Supply
WD Blue 1TB 7,200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive WD10EZEX - Bare Drive
LG 24X Internal DVD ReWritable Drive SATA
Gigabyte GA-Z87N-WIFI LGA 1150 mini ITX Intel Motehrboard
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) CL9 Dual Channel Desktop Memory Kit (Two 4GB Memory Modules)
Intel Core i3 4340 3.6GHz LGA 1150 Boxed Processor
Samsung 840 EVO Series MZ-7TE250BW 250GB SATA 6.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced Mini ITX Case (RC-120A-KKN1)

And i'm running windows 7 pro and booting from the ssd drive.

I'm using stock fan, since case is pretty limited.

Everything is running fine until i ran prime 95. All I wanted to do is to run it over night to make sure the system is stable.

After 15-20 min of prime, the temp tops at 78 to 81 C. When I stopped prime, it drops down to 50 C in about 20 sec. At that point, I shut down the comp on my own. No error on prime.

The stock fan is sited properly, but I can redo it again in the morning.

So my question is, is this temp okay for this cpu? Is it safe to run Prime 95 for a 12hr or 24 hr period? Is this the characteristic of stock cpu? Should I try another thermal paste and stick w/ stock fan?

If this is the characteristic of the cpu, are there decent low profile fans that's not overly noisy? The computer case has 2 fans. Should I invest more fans? (parents really want a quiet machine).

Any help/advice is appreciated!

Thanks!

Haswell CPUs run hot, those temperatures are perfectly normal for 100% load on a stock cooling solution.

Those temps are perfectly fine, start worrying when they breach 90C
