Is it safe to go further?

Thread Starter
I have an KACEA 3700 and I am so close to 3ghz I cant take it. Right now I am running at 2970mhz at 1.55v. My temps are allright it idels at 30 and after 5 hours of sp2004 it only gets up to 46. I would like to reach 3ghz but would it be safe to up the voltage even more? I am not going to be getting a new prossecor for a while and need this one to last.

Heres my cpuz info http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=152230
thanks any help

Are you sure you can't get the extra 30MHz on 1.55V? lol

not stabily, this is like the most i can get at with a stable prime run and if its safe to up the voltage it would be cool to go further

well you can always round up =) cuz 30 mhz aint worth 1.6 vcore. your using a lot of power.

my mother board allows it to be increas by .025v my first questions simplified would it lower the life span of my cpu much if i go up to say 1.57? or would that really even make a difference?

Yes you are lowering the lifespan of your chip...How much is debateable..

You got a good stepping and a nice overclock now.. What will 3 ghz bring that you dont have now? Bragging rights??

I personally think you would be foolish to pump any more juice in it..Buts its your call.

Well as seen as you want it to last a long time, i would say no. Besides its ony 30mhz, no performance increase at all, atleast not noticable.

What multi you running x10 or x11?

EDIT: See if you can get near the same speed with a x10 mutli, you will see a huge difference, i jumped in 700 points in 3dmark05 when i changed multi.

im ruuning an 11x but I have to run a divider on my memory so would it make a difference if I go with a similar clock speed with x10?

Yes it would make a difference because to get to 3 ghz on a 10x multiplier, your fsb would be 300. Higher the fsb, the faster the speed that is if your system can get stable.
