[Build Log] Muzzle Flash II: The Sniper - Page 3

After doing a bit of reading, I picked up some LEDs for this build.

Got 1.5 meters (59 inches) of NFLS-SS-x300-1/2M series 30 High Power LED Super Slim Flexible Light Strip in "Amber" color. This is about the closest I could come up with to orange that would fit in the 6mm channel that is on the top and front of the case. Each light strip needs to be 21" long, so I'll have a little left over.

I also picked up 100cm (39.3 inches) of High Power RGB LED Weatherproof Flexible Light Strips - WFLS-RGB with a black strip finish. I'll use these inside the case as needed for accent lighting. I'll control them with the USB RGB LED controller I already have, the USB-LED-1 RGB LED Controller.

This should allow me to have the "orange-ish" glow I want (instead of blue) with the push of a button on the outside of the case, and with the RGB LED's on the inside, allow me to make the exact color I want, like I had before:

One thing I think I will change ... going over to a tube reservoir as opposed to my dual bay pump/res combo.

Now I just have to figure out which one.

I like the D5 Photon from XSPC, but that D5 pump housing is just so ... ugly.

I do have an old second generation EK system that is just sitting around gathering dust. I was going to auction it, but maybe I can put it in here. It is drop dead sexy looking:

Pumps: 2 Swiftech MCP655 w/variable speed
Pump top: EK-D5 Dual Top
Reservoir: EK 60mm x 200mm mounted on the EK-D5 Dual Top

That sucker is big though, about as big as an RX360 radiator. I wonder if it will fit. thinking.gif

I don't "NEED" 2 pumps, but they are nice. I guess I could always see if I could find a v2 single pump top to mount that reservoir and D5 pump to.

Thoughts or suggestions?

You know I'm a sucker for dual pumps with a dual res mod, all in acrylic to show off the color. . . . . . . biggrin.gif

I'd love to see some one else do my dual res mod . . . hint hint

Are those totally custom reservoirs and pump tops? I've never seen anything like that except in your build.

Ah, I see now, Bitspower tops. thumb.gif

Yep, Bitspower tops, with a custom adapter plate above them.

Good detail on the construction of them in my build log.

If you want to do the mod, I'll loan you the drill jig I made when I made these.

You can use the regular black metal "feet" that come with the Bitspower "Upgrade Kit". . . You don't have to go custom.

If you wanna get a feel for the mod, . . .

There's a little bit about making the adapter plate on page 42 of the build log, and then it picks up with a fairly complete step by step on page 45.

Keep in mind that the cover on the enthoo LED strips is smoked acrylic, and that might make the color look a bit different. Pretty easy to make a new cover though.

Well, I may as well "go large" for this build. Just ordered an Aquaero 6 XT (Controller, LCD, Touchscreen, IR Remote Control), 1 3-contact and 2 2-contact connectors, and the Flow Sensor "High Flow" G1/4" system.

Should take about 2 weeks to get here from Germany.

So much for this build just being a simple "case swap". rolleyes.gif

True.

I wonder if the manufacturer will offer clear panels later on. Maybe I'll just see about replacing it with glass ... which would be better anyway.
