This will be my first gaming monitor. I currently have a 37" vizio 1080p lcd tv. Recently I have become more sensitive to screen tarring and input lag.

I am still going to keep the tv for skyrim and racing games since they are not that affected. I just wanted to know if moving from a 60Hz limited tv
( even though its 120Hz we all know its 60) to a 144Hz monitor will be worth it compared to the larger 27" 2ms GTG. I know my geforce 760 wont output more then 60 Hz on most modern games. Will eventually picking up a second one within the next year.

I mostly play FPS and campaign. I knew my tv had me at a disadvantage when it came to multiplayer.(BF2 was the game I was playing at the time. I understand that many say 1440p is worth it . I can't see any good black friday or cyber monday deals coming down to my price point.

Maybe because I am used to a big screen that I still want a big screen to play FPS. I am also considering the 3D ready and the g-sync mod that will be coming out for the ASUS VG248QE.

I just really want to know if 2ms GTG is enough for getting rid of screen tearing or will that only be smooth with 144 Hz. I read somewhere that even under 60 fps that the 144Hz monitor will still look more fluid.

I have already read many articles about response and refresh rate and the differences.

I also know that an IPS is superior to TN panels. Just wanted know others input.

My budget is around $200~ for the best weekend deal I can get. If I already saw the ASUS VG248QE drop to 220 I just would have bought it.

open to suggestions.
