[VC & ASUS] GTX 780 Ti ROG Poseidon - Page 15

is there a source for this man I would like to read up on the juicy details!
So I've seen a few reviews where the Asus GTX780 Poseidon has been used and monitored for the sake of reviewing, from which the results have been favorable, and I've seen even more people bashing it without trying it at all.

But, and it's a big "but", have any of you actually installed the Poseidon and used it over a period of time as your main GPU?

Better yet, is there a better solution out there that better optimizes performance, cost, and GPU cooling where the cost includes the GPU and a separate waterblock (if applicable)?

I've been seriously thinking about getting two of these in SLI and hooking them both up to a new 480 rad. I think this might be a more feasible solution than purchasing two new waterblocks for my current two almost-two-year-old GTX670 TOPs, which I would probably replace much sooner than a pair of GTX780s. I can't speak for the rest of you, but, for me, just one EK full coverage nickle waterblock for a GTX670 would cost $200.

This voltage locked thing in this last gen of cards is the most retarded thing they could have done

My freaking card can be pushed a lot more but the voltage kills it

The Asus cards are special because you can unlock the voltage with a bit of solder on the spots they laid out for us, if you feel you absolutely need high voltages on their cards you're welcome to do so, but it kills your warranty. Alternatively you can buy a reference 780 and use zawardos afterburner hack to unlock voltages, or get a classified card which allows past 1.5 v through software or a lightning which allows around 1.85 v through software.

But I agree we shouldn't have to rely on hacks and volt mods to overvolt past 1.212 v, thanks to nvidia we do though.

Quite the bump, we finally got a listing for this one at the egg.

Unfortunately a bit too late for ASUS now that 6GB models are coming for GK110 cards. Might be interesting if some here got their hands on one for us all to see. smile.gif

I wouldn't pay an extra $100 for a half baked core only water cooler that probably has aluminum. channels. Sorry.

Its Gimmicky at best since we waited almost 3 months for it...No real reason to get this unless you really want to try the hybrid cooling or just a collectors item.
Collectors.I can.see.getting it, someone who wants to actually use a 780 should get a classified or a new.6gb from evga imo.

I'd rather get a card with a Nice air cooler for $50 more, have it have a good warranty (cause we all know ASUS RMA Sucks) and If I ever wanted to WC, pay the $100 then to get a block

I actually found ASUS RMA was quite a good experience for me. Was easy to do and all that. Although I agree with you, I bet there are some people who want to have the option of doing both at the same time, or people that want to WC without voiding warranty. I guess it would also work for people with a fairly low-capacity loop, as a bit of "assistance"
looks cool and all, but if your going to put watercooling on a gpu, why not have a full block instead of a water/air hybrid? your connecting it into your loop anyway, and id rather the clean look of a full block, not so bulky etc.
