I think it's a great idea, assuming the block is copper and not aluminum and it's not $100 more than a normal card.
ASUS has done previous attempts at Hybrid cooling like this on motherboards, and they used Aluminum Blocks. Based on the picture, it shows a silver colored block, and unless they change it, it could only be Aluminum or Nickel plated copper. Now, While Nickel plating would be nice, even that would be too expensive for mass production. Combining those two factors, it is more than likely Aluminum. Now, they could surprise us when it comes out, but I doubt it.
