Even without flashing the 290 it is a little bit faster on average than 780 and cheaper. If you have no preference for Nvidia or AMD or their features the 290 is a better value card. On the other hand, if you're buying right now and can't wait until January for custom cooled 290's I'd say the extra cost of the 780 is not so bad since you are getting a good cooler unlike the 290's stock cooler. Also see how they each perform in the games you will be playing most on them. If you can be bothered you could buy some third party air cooler for the 290 and replace the stock one but in that case you're better off waiting for an AIB model by MSI etc.Edited by smaudioz - 11/28/13 at 3:22pm
