Mixing RAM while overclocking: not as bad as drinking and driving, right?

Here's what I'm using now

Corsair Vengeance - 2 x 4GB
Stock: 1866 @ 9-10-9-27 @ 1.5V
Overclocked: 2200 @ 9-12-11-32 @ 1.7V (motherboard has auto-timing, so could be tightened, but I'm happy)

How terrible would it be if I added in this kit

G.SKILL Ripjaws X - 2 x 4GB (so I'll be able to maintain dual-channel with four sticks)
Stock: 2133 @ 9-11-11-31 @ 1.60V
Overclock to match above: 2200 @ 9-12-11-32 @ 1.7V

So, likely completely different ICs, but it's only a 66MHz overclock with timings a little looser on the G. Skill. People say it could be unstable, but why? I think it very unlikely the G. Skill won't be able to push that tiny OC with looser timings.

Is there some hidden voodoo that makes this incompatible? It looks so close. frown.gif

EDIT: Before someone asks, why do I need 16GB? I have the EVO, so RAPID will have even more cache room! And why am I overclocking? BF4! biggrin.gif I tried 2400MHz, but current RAM won't go that high, frown.gif

It will probably work just fine, I can't see any reason why the G.Skill should not handle that low OC. It will be next to no extra anyways since you are raising timings at the same time.

So you are probably good to go wink.gif

Schmanks for the reply! biggrin.gif That's what I was thinking, too.

OK, I buckled. But, not for the RAM. I found out RAPID on Samsung's 840 EVOs can only use 1GB maximum (it's only 25% of your RAM if it's less than 1GB, but obviously in my case, 25% is a heck of a lot more than 1GB, lol). And, trying to run 4 sticks @ 2200MHz might be too much for my IMC (and thus my CPU speed), I found out after reading the thread on my motherboard.

So, I got a mouse as my old 125Hz Superman-themed free-after-MIR mouse is slowly dying. However, I shall treasure your advice until the day I die--thank you for replying when no one else could (or wanted to, lol).
