CPU paired with a 7950 will still be a good combo, not a huge bottleneck (term is overused). I ran a 480, then a 7970GE with a 8120 (which is slower then yours) and it did fine, though upgrading showed pretty big gains, it wasn't anywhere near bottlenecked to the point where going from a 480 to a 7970 didnt still give me large gains.

And for the same price it's a no brainer, plus if you plan to keep the pc a while, it's well worth it

I prefer vapor x models myself. this 1 here is just over 200, will give u a decent performance boost. I myself used a 5770 vapor x, now i use a 7970 vapor x both cards are amazingly cool with good overclock headroom. Hope this helps

don't quote me. But i don't think so as my 7970 vapor x card is much stronger than the card i linked u. To be honest that may be a re branded card but i don't think its of the performance of my 7970 vapor x

Nope. 270Xs and 270s are improved 7870s, and the 280Xs are just 7970GHzs with a new name and price tag. 280s are improved 7970s. AMD only improved the architectures for most of the R200 series with the exception of the 280X and the new 290s.

Bought this. It's better than my current 6950. Liked the price. Hate bottlenecks .

It was $115 last week. $130 is still a great price for a 7870. I was informed that this is the "hair-dryer edition" of that card when I posted that deal thread.
