Looking for a 9 or 10 inch tablet

I'm eyeing something like the Kindle Fire HD since I won't be playing games on this tablet. Are there anything else I should also consider? I'm only buying it to filled the gap between my mobile and the laptop so I don't want to drop too much cash on it.

Your choice is between the 9" Kindle fire HDX, 9.7" Ipad Air & the 10.1" Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014. Kindle Fire HDX is the cheapest of the 3 but also have the smallest screen, if you don't need 4:3 resolution for book readering or Note 10.1's size + pen support then Fire HDX is probably the best choice for you, however you do get limited to the Amazon Fire OS which is the smallest app library of the three(compared to IOS app storeand Google Play Store).

What are you planning on doing with this tablet(I see that it is not for Gaming), web browsing/video/+ebook reading? Ipad gives you the best web broswing/reading experience with its 4:3 aspect ratio, HDX/Note 10.1 are much better at video playback b/c their 16:10 aspect ratio.

The Kindle HDX does look great but I'm trying not to spend more than 300 euro. For now the HD seems quit appealing and I'm pretty close to pull the trigger already. But I'd like to explore some alternatives at the same price range so no better choice will be missed.

In the <300 euro price range you have to be looking for a Nexus 10(if it is second handed or on sale) or a Ipad 4 on sale if you want something as alternative to a Kindle HD 9". Although if I only had that much money I'd consider one of the newer 7-8" tablet over a old 9-10", but I am just biased toward small tablet that way.

I got a 4.7 inch mobile and a 13 inch laptop. What I'm seeking is a compromise between the two with which i will be able to read some pdf, without holding the bulk of the laptop nor blinding myself within 6 months. I did some reading and reached the conclusion that, being as capable a tablet as it is, the nexus 7 is not big enough for me. It appears anything smaller than a 9 inch won't make a difference noticeable enough over my mobile. That's why I'm looking at this particular screen size between 9 and 10.

Do not get the Amazon Kindle HDX. Their fireos is a proprietary customization of android os. You will not be allowed to download google apps or any other android apps other than amazon apps. Also it s not nearly as fast as the Samsung Note 10 2014. I know I just bought the Samsung Note 10 2014. It has 3 GB memory as opposed to the 2 Gb on the Amazon HDX. It also has a FASTER PROCESSOR in Samsung Eynos 64 bit quad core.

Thanks for the input. Although I'm really not looking at the HDX or the Note10.1. What I'm seeking is a 250 euro medium-low end tablet with a screen size between 8.5 and 10 inches.

I know not your finances, but buying in that range is going to limit you to poor screen resolution if you wish to play a movie and an underpowered cpu with limited memory. In 6 months you are likely to be less than happy with your purchase. If it is possible wait a few months and save an extra 150 Euros so you can get a better tablet. I was very frustrated with my Toshiba 10 Excite tablet. Inadequate memory poor quality Nvidia Tegra 3 quad processor and limited screen resolution. I finally had my fill when it became increasingly unresponsive and it started rebooting on its own. I had i for a year and a half. I am not looking back.
