B. Hope the hole saw itself is correct for cutting plastic, because acrylic tends to melt and depending on thickness can crack as well.
I know you want to make a custom window, which is why I suggest you get a case without a window on the side. Then make your own cutout, buy the window hardware etc.
I don't want to get into cutting metal, I don't have the proper tools or training to make the kind of clean cut I'd want (so I don't need to hide it under a lining of rubber which I totally despise.) And metal working places I've talked to locally charge to much. They don't think such a small job is worth their time unless they're getting paid well for it, even if its a simple rectangle or square with no odd shapes. I asked a couple places last year. So I'm looking for cases that already have a window with screw holes. There's nothing wrong with trying to simplify a problem and looking for a less expensive and less complicated solution as long as your not cutting corners, which I would never do. There are plenty of towers with windows these days. Hell, on a lot of them its just standard. However, using screws seems to be something that is going out of style... something I just don't understand, which is making this more difficult. That is the problem I'm facing mostly I think.
That's not true at all... everyone I've talked to about this has used handheld drills, and every video and every guide I've seen is using hand drills. There are plenty of guides on how to do this with handheld power tools, you should read up on it. You don't need big expensive tools and presses to do this. You can do it with a cheap $39 drill if you wanted to.
And there are small hand tools made for cleaning up cut edges of plexiglass.
and that's why I don't like every desktop I've seen. They never have enough fan holes or 5.25 bays. I stopped looking at them months ago for that reason. Some of them have no 5.25 slots at all, and that's not happening. I'm not adding more clutter to my set up with additional stuff I shouldn't need to use in the fist place. Don't bother guys, its a waste of time.
Thanks for trying to help guys, but its pretty obvious a desktop isn't going to work. If you want to help, I'm only looking for black, grey, or full tower size or larger, have a window that uses holes for screws or snap fittings, has plenty of 120mm cooling options, and at least three or four 5.25 bays in the front. A tower with room for a 240 rad at the top or back would be nice.
I'm not interested in anything else unless someone found something that fit all the criteria I've laid out , sorry.
I can't believe this is a difficult thing to find in this day and age with all the enthusiasts that exist today. What he hell....
Does anyone have experience with the SST-TJ07B-W-USB3.0? I'd like to know if a 240 closed loop radiator with fans can fit at the top and not run into the motherboard? It looks like a tight fit and I think the 120's up there are actually spaced apart. If not, its another case I can't use. Edited by Drahadis - 12/2/13 at 7:58pm
