Windows 8 OEM Personal Use License - mobo replacement.

Hi guys, sorry for making an additional thread on this topic, but Im searching for few hours and cant find the answer :/ Since here are a lot of people upgrading their stuff pretty often, I hope you can help me to solve my problem smile.gif

I had old custom build pc with Win 8 GGK, and when I moved to other mobo I had to buy a new copy of windows, cause GGK is not transferable. So I cant do nothing with it anymore frown.gif
Now I have Windows 8 x64 OEM on my pc (got dvd version with key) and I agreed Personal Use License terms when I was installing it . Tommorow Im planning to change motherboard to another model. (from itx to atx). So on the internet there are two opinions - that I cant transfer my system, and that I can. Idk what to believe and what will work.
Microsoft is saying that if it is a Personal Use License I can tranfer it to other pc, when I delete the previous installation. is it true? Now I have it upgraded to win 8.1, but Im planning to downgrade since win8.1 is a crap.
What is the truth? What should I do to deactivate system on old pc, so it could be activated on a new mobo after clean install without problems?
For example in adobe products there is a "deactivate" option. SO after it could be transfered somewere esle. I cannot find it in win 8.1 for now. :/

I found this command for command promt to deactivate old copy and activate it on a new pc. Can this be applied to my situation?
Quote:
To deactivate the old installation, open an elevated command prompt and run this command:

slmgr /upk.

Close the command prompt and reboot. This will uninstall the product key from the computer and set it back to trial mode.

To activate the new installation, open an elevated command prompt and run these two commands:

slmgr /ipk [your product key here]

slmgr /ato

Thank all of you who will help me smile.gif

Deactivation in Windows is based on the honor system. There is no "deactivate" button - which is why you cannot find it wink.gif You are free to uninstall Windows and re-install on another PC. If the license does not activate, call the automated phone service for your country, which will provide you a series of digits to activate the license.

What happens if I build a PC with a Personal Use License, then later decide to sell it?

A. You may transfer the software to another computer that belongs to you. You may also transfer the software (together with the license) to a computer owned by someone else if a) you are the first licensed user of the software and b) the new user agrees to the terms of this agreement. To make that transfer, you must transfer the original media, the certificate of authenticity, the product key and the proof of purchase directly to that other person, without retaining any copies of the software. You may use the backup copy we allow you to make or the media that the software came on to transfer the software. Anytime you transfer the software to a new computer, you must remove the software from the prior computer. You may not transfer the software to share licenses between computers. You may transfer Get Genuine Windows software, Pro Pack or Media Center Pack software only together with the licensed computer.
