E6600 build suggestions?

Thread Starter
After several hours of research I've decided on these components for my new gaming oriented rig. My main goal for this system is a 3.6ghz OC (400x9) running 24/7 if possible. I just wanted to show you all this build and ask for some comments/suggestions on it. Thanks.

Motherboard: eVga 680i SLI

CPU: C2D E6600

CPU Cooler: Tuniq Tower 120

Memory: Team Xtreem 2 Gb Kit PC 6400 800Mhz 4-4-4-12(C4)

Main HD - Raptor 150GB

Storage HD - Seagate 320GB 7200.10

GPU - 1x eVga 8800GTX

Sound Card - Creative X-Fi Fata1ity FPS

Also, is it worth getting the faster latency ram (3-3-3-8 C3) for $150-$200 more than the C4?

What PSU are you thinking of getting? I ask as you'll need to have chosen one with a high optimal output.

As for the extra premium for Cas3 RAM over Cas4, I don't think its worth the extra cash for such a small performance boost.

Are you planning on going sli in the future? Because if you are not then get the P5B deluxe instead of the Evga. And don't get the fatality x-fi, just get the normal one.

As Niko said, don't bother with the FPS version; its only 1 to 2 FPS if your lucky anyway, go for the Extreme Music version.

For that much more, I wouldn't advise going for 3-3-3-8, C2D are less picky about RAM timings anyway.

Apart from that, looks good, think about 3rd party GPU cooling too

There is so many sound cards (even just from creative), it makes it hard to choose which one, and they range in price so much from only £15 to £220.

Ah yea.. forgot to list the PSU. The PSU I was planning on is the PC Power & Cooling 750W Silencer.

I'm not 100% sure on this yet. I run a 20" monitor and I'm kinda thinking that 2x 8800GTXs will never really be necessary. Also, by the time I need a new GPU I can just buy 1 of the latest one. As far as the P5B goes, I have done some research on it and it seems like the most solid non SLI board. The part that makes me iffy is that the 680i SLI is also only $50 more expensive. What do you all think?

Yea, I did some research on this as well and came up with the same, but I wanted to make sure.

I have the Evga and E6600, I couldn't be happier. With water, a cheap water setup, It's running 3.7ghz at 53 degrees full load. Runs anything I want very well and fast. Let me know if I can be of any help, don't know much, but can tell you what I did. Good luck
