I5 750 to I5 4670 Haswell.

I've had an I5 750 for 4 years or more now. I haven't kept up with the processor wars lately but there is an opportunity to sell all of the old guts out of my current PC (mobo, my I5 750 overclocked to 3.6 ghz, and 4 GB of RAM) and completely cover the cost of a new I5 4670K.

I've read up that Haswell doesn't overclock quite as well but from what I've read, its beyond clock speeds I would ever take the new chip to anyway. I couldn't see trying to overclock the CPU past 4ghz anyway, if that.

The mobo I'm looking at to accompany the chip has people complaining about lack of overclocking ability with it but I can't tell if that is poorly educated users or if its a legitimate concern with the motherboard-

Again, I have no plans of taking the cpu past 4 ghz anyway.

Thoughts?

You've sold me on the Gigabyte board solely because it has a digital optical out. I often play shows saved on my pc on my lcd tv/home theater system and because the home theater receiver is an older Onkyo, it only has a digital optical in instead of HDMI. Just like my old current Gigabyte board, it seems Gigabyte is the only manufacturer that bothers to put these on motherboards these days.

The reason i listed that motherboard was because of the LED debug display that give you an error code when something does not work

I cant live without one myself as it has saved me more time then i would care to think about

Funny that you say you have an old Onkyo as i also do the same thing you do and also have an older Onkyo

Got the Onkyo TX NR808 in 2010 so its 3 years old now and is still rocking
