4670k Build opinions?

Thread Starter
I'm going for a compact, nothing flashy or fancy, just a plain jane powerhorse for a little bit of everything. WIll be doing as much overclocking as can be done with parts available.
Any opinions or same cost/cheaper swaps or upgrades I can do? I've been out of the PC world and have been doing lots of auto tech stuff so I'm a little bit rusty as to what the newest and best stuff out is wink.gif
Build can be seen here

If you're too lazy to go to the link, here's the parts so far tongue.gif

Case - Rosewill Line-M micro atx(supports four 120mm fans + 12.5" GPU)
Mobo - ASRock Z87M Extreme4
PSU - Rosewill Capstone 750W (gpu's recommend + I like headroom)
GPU - MSI R9 280X (want to do high res gaming so that over 770 and 7970, plus cheapest)
CPU - 4670K (don't have money for bigger right now)
RAM - Crucial Ballistix Sport, 2x8Gig, 1600 low profile, 1.35v, 9.9.9.24 (I really like their 4GB version so far)
HDD - two 2TB WD AV-GP WD20EURS(want to change to blues or blacks if I find a good deal)
Cooler - Noctua NH-L9i low profile cooler (subject to change, sticking with air cooling most likely)
Drives - Asus 24X DVD Burner(install plus cd/dvd burning & gaming)
OS - Win 7 Home Premium SP1
Total current costs - $1,280. Would rather not go up but have a firm cap of $1,300.

I want it to be good at everything but don't care about being great or perfect at any one thing. Good for gaming, video editing, music, bluray movies(by streaming or download, so no drive), college stuff, office work, whole family kind of stuff. Going to keep it in the livingroom as central media unit as well, so will go wireless mouse & keyboard. IDC about lag during gaming or any of that from wireless, I currently use it on my spec'd build and I'm fine with how it works. For now, will be using a 50" hdtv as primary display till more money comes in for a multi-display config. I'm not going with SSD, I don't care about boot times nor can i justify spending that much on one just yet. I'm still looking for a better cpu cooler and better HDD's; there will be a lot of adding and deleting large files from this as I will be doing a lot of 1080p movie editing later down the road, so that will be a factor on reliability and durability of drives.

Whew.. With all that spewed out, any suggestions, changes, opinions, etc that any of you care to share?

Changes made: PSU - CM V700

Also looking for a good, cheap 1080p HD webcam for possibility of opening new youtube channel (depending on what they decide to do next with it all) if anyone has advice on that

Noted. Just curious if that will be cutting it close pulling the highest OC on the whole system that parts and temps allow? I've heard the 280x's like to go mad with power when they get OC'd

What he says about efficiency is wrong but everything else is right

This is how little power a system really uses

Can't watch YT at work, I'll check it out later. I know the whole system should only use somewhere around 150w or so on idle, maybe 450 under load, but with an overclock, I see wattage use skyrocket on some parts, especially with a lot of the AMD cpu's, so it's something I tend to go too high with lol

Zemco, thanks a lot mate but I'm sticking with Win 7 for now. Not ready to jump to win 8 just yet. Call me a dinosaur if ya want tongue.gif I was looking at the blacks, thanks for pointing that out. Somehow that slipped by me.

You can always use the program "Start is back" To make it windows 7-esque
