Playstation 3 vs Xbox 360 - Page 9

If would be a practical competition between sony and microsoft, if sony offered an external blu-ray player, kind of like what microsoft did. I think that's sony's biggest mistake.

I think a lot of people would reconsider buying the PS3 or not if ^^that^^ was true.

Exactly, that's been my #1 argument when comparing the X360 to the PS3. The X360 plus the HD-DVD add-on costs the same as a PS3 after all, but we (the consumers) get the choice of whether to spend the money for the HD movie playback. Microsoft, contrary to history, really seems to understand the consumer driven market really well; better than Sony does right now.

I frankly don't think that the PS3 is going to end up outselling the Xbox 360 or the Wii. I don't think it will come close unless they make some sort of breakthrough in their manufacturing costs and drop the price on the console by quite a bit. Most people that I have talked to don't give a damn about the blue-ray player in the PS3 a lot of people don't even know that it has one. At $500 and $600 dollar respectively it just costs to much in most peoples minds. If they are looking for a cheap console they go with the Wii for $250 and if they feel like spending a little more they can get a 360 for $300. When they look at the PS3 at $500 and a 360 at $300 with the 360 currently having many more high profile games and both being very close in terms of graphics. The only advantage that most see for the PS3 is the ability to play an obscure and expensive new video format.

Yeah...I totally regret having those fanboy wars in some previous threads.
I actually sat down and thought about everything.

Microsoft had a huge head-start and Nintendo isn't doing to bad at all. I doubt sony will every outsell anyone unless they keep the PS3 out for a long time. They would've had to released the PS3 at the same time as the 360, with an option for an external blu-ray player, which would've have had the console most likely the same prices as the 360. The PS3 and 360 would've been head to head if that happened.

I agree with you. When people go out to shop for a next gen console, they're going to look at price, and buy whatever is in their budget. Some people just don't have to opportunity to shell out $500-$600 for the PS3. Not a lot of them are going to look at the features that the consoles offers either. Most of them are just going to go straight for the games.

Sony sony sony....tisk tisk

well it all depends, if you want a system right now then get the 360 its the clear winner right now it has GOW which seems to be the only game i ever hear about for the 360 ><

but later down the line the PS3 might come out on top, probly during the end of this year, once the price on the PS3 drops, and the online community grows and a few good games for it comes out, it will take off like a flipping rocket, the only downside tho is the IF it happens

u can either get the 360 and play good games, and have a good time with a good system

or get the PS3 and hope it takes off since it has alot of potential, but thats all it has right now... just potential...

If you are considerably not interested in the Nintendo Wii i would def push you towards relatively the controller are big and abit heavey but the gaming expirience on the 360 is amazing aswell as the live expirience which i must say is also very nice.

PS3 is very expensive i got offered for one in the uk before release for 499 and thats a cheap one with 2 games 2 movies and 2 wireless controllers.
Now lets go back to the retail price its probably about 499 for one controller and 2 games plus standard console -_- beats me......

360 - Cheaper go go go 360
oh and GEARS OF WAR what a game !!!!!!!!!!!!
