Microsoft, contrary to history, really seems to understand the consumer driven market really well; better than Sony does right now.
Yeah...I totally regret having those fanboy wars in some previous threads.
I actually sat down and thought about everything.

Most people that I have talked to don't give a damn about the blue-ray player in the PS3 a lot of people don't even know that it has one. At $500 and $600 dollar respectively it just costs to much in most peoples minds. If they are looking for a cheap console they go with the Wii for $250 and if they feel like spending a little more they can get a 360 for $300. When they look at the PS3 at $500 and a 360 at $300 with the 360 currently having many more high profile games and both being very close in terms of graphics. The only advantage that most see for the PS3 is the ability to play an obscure and expensive new video format.
Microsoft had a huge head-start and Nintendo isn't doing to bad at all. I doubt sony will every outsell anyone unless they keep the PS3 out for a long time. They would've had to released the PS3 at the same time as the 360, with an option for an external blu-ray player, which would've have had the console most likely the same prices as the 360. The PS3 and 360 would've been head to head if that happened.
I agree with you. When people go out to shop for a next gen console, they're going to look at price, and buy whatever is in their budget. Some people just don't have to opportunity to shell out $500-$600 for the PS3. Not a lot of them are going to look at the features that the consoles offers either. Most of them are just going to go straight for the games.
Sony sony sony....tisk tisk
