cf / tf 7970s or 780 ti

Thread Starter
Hey guys i was looking for some opinions. I currently have a reference HIS 7970 non ghz. I am debating on my next gpu upgrade. I am thinking of a trifire configuration however it just seems like a waste to be paying $360 each for another 2 reference cooler 7970s, right now thats basically the price of the 780ti card.... Though the performance would heavily outweigh the 780ti im wondering if the amd driver updates resolved the microstutter issues. What are your opinions? How would a CF 7970 configuration or TF 7970 configuration compare to a single ti card? I will be single monitor gaming

What res?

My 7970 cfx box rips through BF4/Ultra/x4msaa stutter free, 1200p.

I have a 780 box that I also play on sometimes, and honestly prefer the gameplay on my cfx box.
Probably due to the min fps averaging so much higher.

In my experience AMD has provided better BF play since Bad Co.

RadeonPro eliminates stutter, the issue is driver support outside mainstream games.

Realistically 2 R9 290s would be better than 3 7970s and much better than a 780 TI. Also, are ref. 7970s really $360 each?

This actually just went out of stock wed. I got my eye on one on ebay though for half that. If i want matching cooler there are similar brands with the same exact cooler just rebranded i will prob go that route or stick aftermarket coolers on em. At that point the 780 is looking alot cheaper

That's a terrible price, I just sold 2 of my 7970s for $400.

OP for 1920 x 1080 the R9 290 is more than enough. wait for custom versions like asus dc2 or his iceq x2.
