Looking at my first PC upgrade in a LONG time and I would really like to go with a Mini-ITX machine. Being in a small apartment it would work a lot better with my life style.
Having never built anything smaller than a Full Tower, this is a new experience. Coupled with the fact that I haven't been paying much attention to PC hardware for the last few years means I am at a bit of a loss.
I have tried to put some stuff together and I am hoping you guys can help me get things sorted. This would be bought in the middle of December, about 3 weeks from now.
The budget is 600-700 range.
First I will go with the stuff I am reusing:
RAM: Reusing current 8GB of DDR3 RAM
SSD/HDD: Reusing current 128GB SSD and 640GB HDD
Second I will go with the stuff I am pretty sure I want, or at least don't have a substitute for (until you tell me how stupid it is ;) ).
Case: Fractal Design Node 304
GPU: R9 270X, brand TBD, probably just the cheapest at the time
Finally the "hard" part in my mind the CPU and Motherboard choice, these are just things I threw up as a starting point.
MOBO: MSI Z77IA-E53
CPU: A10 6800K
MOBO: Gigabyte FM2+
I am 100% aware that I am sacrificing performance with the AMD build, but it is decently cheaper. The question would be if it is worth it. I know there are new APUs on the horizon, so maybe I could upgrade early next year?
Intel Option Total: $679.45
AMD Option Total: $579.95
Things I have no idea about, in nice question form:
1. CPU cooler? Want to make sure it fits, but I don't need anything crazy, overclocking like crazy is not high on my priorities list.
2. Will the GPU fit? Perhaps a bit concerned with power draw with the 450W PSU.
So there it all is, looking for a critique, I'm not really married to anything except for sticking with an AMD GPU.
