GTX 770 SLI Temps

Thread Starter
So my old GTX 680 Classified died on my last week but my local retailer was generous enough to replace it under warranty with a GTX 770 Classified (Blower). I decided that I wanted to go 1440p in the near future so I was looking to purchase a second 770 Classified within a couple days. Just before Black Friday, I managed to snag a 770 classy (ACX Cooler) through a price match for about $425… I would have bought the blower model, but this price was too good to resist and the blower model wasn't on sale.

I am new to an SLI setup, but I do recognize that in SLI, the primary gpu is going to be hotter than the secondary card. i did a few benches and played me some BF4 and noticed that even at 100% fan speed my primary (ACX Cooler) is hitting almost 85C whilst my blower card remains 65C maximum in full load. my fan profile is set at an incline from 70% fan speed @ 50C to hit 100% fan speed at 69%. I have the cards set with acx on top with blower on bottom so the dumped air goes through my top exhaust case fan and blower card just doing its thing on the bottom.

now obviously i know that the spacing of the two cards has an effect on it due to lack of air getting to the primary card but is such a temp difference normal? i would like to keep the temps below 80C if possible because I want to OC the cards later in the future.

Would adding side panel fans in intake decrease temps dramatically? i would also like my computer to retain a tolerable noise level. or would i see an improvement by getting better case fans aside from my stock ones

Case: Corsair 600T (Stock Case Fans) front intake, top and rear exhaust

Are the cards in slots 1(ACX) & 4(blower) ?

If you leave the case window open, does it drop the temps at all?

ACX Cooler is slot 1 and Blower is Slot 2. My board is a Gigabyte UD5H. Yeah, the temps decrease significantly. I think I may have found a solution though. I moved my bottom HD drive bay near my PSU and bought myself a bitfenix spectre pro 200mm for my front intake. Temps on load decreased significantly for my ACX blower and never hits 75C which was a big improvement. the spectre fan pulls ALOT of air even on minimum RPM.
